DJ and producer Samantha Bagg has been mixing up her blend of funk, disco, hip-hop, breaks, world, house and tech for almost 15 years.
She has as much an undefined approach to music as her background - originally from Sri Lanka (Tamil), brought up in Scotland (Glasgow) and now living in London.
Known for creating a vibe in any given space - be it dance floor, beach or back room - its about building an energy and connecting with people. Balearic to bass. 90-130bpm. 3hrs or more. Original gems, disco re-edits, future jazz, broken beat alongside obscure grooves - all flavoured with a dirty funk undertone. Add that to deep squelchy basslines, tribal rhythms, a heavy break or a driving four and you can pretty much taste the groove.
Her more recent work as a producer and arranger has been a foray into the darker broken rhythms of hip-hop and broken beat, enjoying working with a number of rap artists from the States, whilst focusing on developing a unique and atmospheric sound.
Having worked as a promoter for many years, bringing various people to sunny Scotland - from the Skatalites to Soul II Soul, C2C to Quantic Soul Orchestra, she's pretty good at knowing what makes a good night or day of music filled heaven.
Resident DJ at South Place Hotel in London and previous residencies include Carnival Arts, Jagerhaus @ Beat Herder, Bestival and Kendal Calling plus a few years playing at Garden Festival, Croatia
