Karlos first started djing in 1992 mainly at after club parties in Pembrokeshire. He only had a few records at the time but this soon grew into an obsession spending most of his spare time and money in beloved records shops. He eventually bought a set of second hand SoundLab belt drive decks and an old Gemini mixer from a mate and so it began! After eventually saving up and purchasing his first pair of Technics SL1200s, he was well and truly hooked building a nice little record collection and on his way.
His major influences were Sasha, John Digweed, Carl Cox, Anthony Pappa, Underworld and Leftfield which remains with him today. Karlos soon expanded his favourite DJ’s to the likes of Billy Nasty, Jeff Mills, Gayle San, Adam Beyer and Chris Liebing, to name but a few. His favourite club back then was The Hippo Club, in Cardiff, which he was lucky enough to see most of above mention performed. “I have always had my roots firmly in Progressive House having mixed most types of dance music, from vocal house right through to break beat, dabbling a little in intelligent drum and bass and lots of techno. Traveling all over the country to visit various events to watch them all play.”
DJing has remained a true passion with Karlos throughout his life and has always been a constant go to in times of need, in his own words, “my passion”. Karlos is currently a Director and one of the Resident DJ’s at AATM Radio in which he holds a bi-weekly show with guest mixes from djs all over the world. He hosts a monthly DJ residency on Saturo Sounds called Synergy, a residency with Transmission Lost which focuses on events and radio too. Karlos has also begun producing his own music, still shopping to labels awaiting an official release, but watch this space.
Peace, Love and Progressive House,
Karlos
